The Chronicle of Philanthropy highlighted an article in the Washington Post: Americans still giving, despite economic meltdown.
Kudos to the Washington Post and the AP. It’s great to see more media outlets talking about fundraising in a recession using the actual data of how we behave, rather than whipping up fear and panic.
Here’s a great quote from the article:
“At a time when people have things and they know that other people don’t, Americans’ generosity wins out,” said Justin Greeves, senior vice president of Harris Interactive, which regularly polls Americans about their charitable giving.
It’s encouraging to read as we all head into our year end fundraising appeals!
