Fall fundraising is hard enough. But listening to NPR’s All Things Considered on my ride home this evening, I remembered how much more challenging political mailing will make your fundraising this fall.
So I pulled to the side of the rode to record this reminder.
How are you re-engineering your fall fundraising letters?
What ways are you testing to make your nonprofit’s fall fundraising stand out? Tell us here in the comments!
Marc – Very good point. Election years are always challenging for direct mail but there is also going to be even more noise on social channels and emails – like never before. People are simply going to be bombarded with messages. So as you say, look for ways to stand out, be intentional with who you contact, and how you communicate. Make every effort count. I would also add — don’t make the mistake of thinking that pulling back and reducing communication will somehow help your efforts — that will be a huge mistake.
Excellent points, Eric! Social media will be really crazy!
And pulling back NEVER helps. Was it the Red Cross or American Cancer that recently proved this?
